Cambodia categorically rejects Thailand’s baseless claim that Cambodia is laying new landmines. Cambodia already suffers from the tragic legacy of landmines on its territory, and there is absolutely no reason or need to add new ones that would only bring more suffering and hardship to our own people.
For Cambodia, landmines are the enemy of the nation and of the Khmer people. Cambodia has long been recognized as one of the first countries in the world to actively fight against landmines and to join the international community in banning and preventing their use.
